About this Product

This blue lotus soap is formulated with 100% grass feed beef tallow and lye (sodium hydroxide), similar to the ingredients our ancestors have used for years! However, I have added a few other ingredients to provide a more gentle soap. This soap does not contain colorants but it does contain blue lotus essential oil. The scent notes are a distinct floral scent and this soap leaves a gentle clean feeling on the skin.

This bar also contains chia seeds, chia seeds provide an exfoliation to help remove dead skin. ** Please note that some chia seeds can become sharp, I recommend rubbing the soap into your hands or rag and then rub onto your body gently.

Each bar is slightly different in weight, this is due to each bar being hand cut and also the length of cure time.

It is recommended the bar to be allowed to fully dry between uses, this will allow for the bar to last longer.

Contains: Water, Beef Tallow, Coconut Oil, Sunflower Oil, Olive Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Caster OIl, Shea Butter, Blue Lotus Essential Oil, Chia Seeds.

Best if: Allowed to air dry between uses.

Warning: for external use only.

Meet the Maker

Hello, I am Jessica and I thank you for taking a look at my profile. I started Prairie Rose Botanicals from a passion I found in providing my family with handcrafted and natural skincare items. That quickly spread beyond family and extended to friends, which then expanded to my friend's friends and finally to here!

Natural skincare gives me the opportunity to connect and learn about the natural botanicals found in the herbs, spices and plants around me. The use of natural botanicals for healing and aiding the skin and body date back thousands of years. Gaining an understanding of how they have been used, gives me the opportunity to connect with my ancestors and how they cared for their families, friends and community in the same manner.

How it’s Made

Lye is used in the making of this soap; when ingredients are formulated properly there is no lye left after the saponification process. Saponification is the chemical reaction of what happens after lye comes into contact with fats or oils and is the process that actually makes the ingredients become soap.

This soap is made through the hot process (HP) method. HP method uses external heat sources to encourage the soap to process through the gel phase prior to being poured into the mold. Hot process tends to give a nice "rustic" or less refined end product. This method also allows for a quicker set time (unmolding time), shorter curing time and overall quicker turnaround time.
