About this Product
This is a watercolor painting of a majestic white-tailed deer standing cautiously in a thicket of tall ferns deep in the forest. There is no light coming through the trees to make any shadows. The deer's eyes are dark and expressive, and it is looking directly at the viewer with a sense of curiosity and calmness. The goal was to contrast the abstract ferns and rocks with the detailed realism of the deer.
The inspiration for this painting was seeing a similar scene when I lived in Upstate New York while walking through the woods. I remember how well the deer was camouflaged and difficult to see hiding in the tall ferns. The overall mood of the painting is peaceful and serene. The deer's gentle expression and the soft colors of the landscape create a sense of tranquility.
