About this Product
I captured this landscape view when I visited Sedona Arizona in September 2021. The red rock mountain in the background is Cathedral Rock. The watercolor painting depicts a solitary dead tree standing in the middle of a vast desert landscape. It is done in a loose, expressive style, with washes of color and visible brushstrokes that add to the sense of rawness and emotion in the scene.
The tree is skeletal, its branches bare and reaching towards the sky like gnarled fingers. Its bark is a weathered gray, etched with the passage of time and harsh desert elements. The sand and stones surrounding the tree are a deep reddish brown, stretching out in waves towards the horizon. There are a few desert plants scattered around, suggesting that even in this harsh environment, life finds a way to persist.
This was painted on Arches Cold Pressed 9in. x 12in. paper. It is initialed on the front and signed on the back.
