About this Product

Are you looking for a larger handcrafted ballpoint pen that incorporates your love of fishing? Then this catfish engraved cigar pen is just for you. It is perfect for carrying in a purse, pocket or using it daily at the office or journaling at home. This larger pen is perfect those that like a hefty and thicker pen, but not to big that it is uncomfortable to write with. This pen is a great gift for yourself or can also be a way to say thank you, happy birthday, happy anniversary, happy retirement, happy boss' day, Happy Valentine's Day or a just because gift.
How it's made:

This custom handmade pen, like all my other pens, was personally handcrafted by me in my woodshop. These are not mass produced pens and each one is handcrafted by myself so you are getting a craftsman's touch and love of their craft with each pen. Each pen I craft has subtle differences making it a truly one of a kind pen. First, I take a curly mesquite blank that was purchased from another small business in Arizona and prep it for pen making by drilling and gluing in the inner tube hardware. Second, it is meticulously turned down with my lathe to fit the Cigar pen components taking proper care that it transitions to the pen hardware perfectly. Thirdly, the pen is sealed with cyanoacrylate and then polished with a mixture of walnut oil and wax. The walnut oil and wax allow you to feel the natural wood and will naturally tarnish the wood to a nice patina from the oils on your hands. Last, I laser engrave the catfish to the barrel and assemble the pen taking care to line up the wood grain. All of my pens have already been made by me so you know you will be getting the pen pictured in the listing. This eliminates the guess work on how it will look like once made and my pens are ready to ship without long waiting times.

Meet the Maker

Hello, welcome to my shop. My name is Michael and I am from Lubbock, Texas. I am a father to 3 amazing boys and a husband to a beautiful wife. I am a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University and have deep roots in both Texas and New Mexico. There is no other place I would rather live than the Llano Estacado region of the United States.

In search of a hobby, I dabbled in woodworking in 2012 as an escape from my day to day full time job. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Now I just try and find time to do it between all the activities associated with family life. Woodworking gives me a creative outlet that allows me to focus on art and functional pieces.

I source materials from all over the world and use mediums such as wood, resins, and plastics. On occasion, I get to mix these mediums together in a piece.

I welcome special orders and I am always open to working with you in order to come up with that special "something."
