About this Product

"Flying Fish" is a 56"X 40" woven canvas created from salvaged upholstery samples. My artistic process revolves around the materials I paint on and their origins. These canvases are meticulously crafted by hand-cutting and sewing together discarded upholstery. The assembled fabric is then woven and stretched, resulting in a unique and one-of-a-kind artwork.

Meet the Maker

Collin Allen, a lifelong resident of Wichita, brings over two decades of active engagement in the local arts scene. His journey began with immersion in arts programs at Butler County Community College and Wichita State University, where he delved into industrial processes and their creative applications.

For over thirty years, Collin has passionately crafted and shared his jewelry and other handmade treasures with the world.

As an artist in residence at the Go Away Garage Gallery in Wichita, KS, Collin transitioned into various roles, including gallery assistant, preparator, and public relations, leaving an indelible mark on the local art scene. His artistic endeavors have graced numerous group and solo exhibitions across Wichita and beyond, spanning regional, national, and international galleries. Collin's dedication to the arts extended to his involvement with the Wichita Arts Alliance.

Currently, Collin continues to explore industrial processes at Go Create, situated on the Wichita State University Innovation Campus. Armed with a BFA in Studio Art (with a focus on painting) from Wichita State University, along with an associate's degree in the Science of Welding and several certifications in 3D digital design from Wichita State University Tech, Collin's multidisciplinary expertise fuels his creative journey.
