This beautiful boho shoulder bag is completely hand crafted.
I remember as a little girl, sat with my maternal grandma on her sofa, with her arms around me, patiently teaching me how to crochet. It always used to amaze me how she could magically transform a ball of yarn into the most artistic pieces.
I learned to sew, again as a young girl, on my paternal grandfather's treadle Singer sewing machine that he and my grandma got as a wedding present in the late 1930s.
The main body of the bag is crocheted using 100% cotton ribbon yarn in a dusty rose and is made up of single crochet, half double crochet and primrose crochet stitches.
The bag is fully lined with a retro floral fabric; the lining is generous (it allows for a slight stretch of the yarn without it becoming tight and limiting)
Continuing with the retro/vintage vibe, a aubergine crocheted flowers with sparkly buttons adorn both the inside and the outside of the bag.
A (again handmade) detachable macramé feather is attached to one side of the bag.
Your bag closes with a fold over top flap, a crocheted hoop and retro wooden toggle button.
On the front top, there is a detachable floral brooch made from polymer clay; each and every petal created by my hands.
A crocheted and vegan leather strap (detachable) finishes your bag beautifully.
The bag measures approximately 12x11"

Meet the Maker
Hi, I'm Maxine from BellesHearts, thank you so much for visiting, I hope you find something you love!
Before I began with BellesHearts, I lived in England with my 3 older children, my dogs, cats, goats and chickens. I worked at a local high school as an English Language and Literature teacher - my specialism was working with students with special educational needs and/or social and emotional barriers to learning. These were some of the most amazing and wonderful people I have ever had the privilege of meeting, yet an intense and challenging time. To make a difference, passion, patience, acceptance, tolerance, creative teaching and learning, from both my students and I were paramount.
Then everything changed. I met my husband who lived in PA, we got married and I moved over to the US to live. We have a spirited little boy with whom I spend my days, along with our Goldendoodle, Gracie and our Chiweenie, Floki.
I decided to trade in my creativity in teaching, for creating with my hands. I have always enjoyed working with wood and with fabrics. Inspired and taught by my father - an amazing carpenter, engineer and artist; my mother with her strength and determination and by my maternal grandparents, with their unquestioning belief in me always.
BellesHearts was born and there is nothing I love more, nothing so rewarding as being able to create 'Handmade Memories'; truly unique and special pieces for others to treasure.
How it’s Made

The aubergine (eggplant) coloured feather, is made using a macramé technique - handmade by me.
The brooch/pin is also handcrafted by me using polymer clay - each and every component made by my hands.
