The thick leaf casting is painted in acrylic paint and sealed with an all-temperature, clear sealant that will hold up in your yard for many years. Each leaf is painted by hand to match the pattern of the original begonia leaf. I use a dry brush technique that involves several coats of paint that highlight the details of the leaf. This casting could be used as eye-catching yard art or home decor.

Meet the Maker
I am so excited to find GoImagine because it is an excellent match for the mission of my business - handmade art that inspires human well-being. I am a retired nurse-midwife and nursing educator who has studied positive psychology and human well-being for the past 2 decades. And, in the spirit of true happiness, it is exciting to be part of a market that donates to help children. Giving is good for the well-being of both the giver and receiver.
My specialties include: acrylic pour art, hypertufa and cement art (including planters), hand-painted tile clocks, and painted terra cotta pots. I live in Colorado with my 3 best friends (rescue dogs) and love to explore the outdoors.

How it’s Made
Hypertufa is a durable mix of Portland cement, sphagnum moss, and vermiculite. For leaf castings, the mixture is applied to the back of a fresh-cut live leaf. It is allowed to cure in a bag for several weeks. Once cured, the dead leaf is gently brushed off leaving an imprint of the living leaf. I then use acrylic paint to make the casting look like the original leaf. Here is an Instagram reel of one of the leaf castings that I made.
