About this Product

Offered here is a 10 x 20 hand hooked patriotic mat "Home of  Brave", that I designed and hooked using my hand dyed wool.  It's been a popular pattern, and available thru me. This particular piece has been hung on the wall for occasional holiday use and thus is in excellent condition.  It will be steam pressed before it is mailed.
I teach at home as well as at several schools yearly. It's a busy life, but fun and colourful! Also, i own 2 businesses, New Earth Designs and Lib Callaway designs, both are copyrighted patterns for traditional rug hooking, so i spend a fair bit of time printing patterns too.
In over 50 years of hooking, I've accumulated (as well as gifted and sold) a lot pf pieces. . .It's time to pare down and let other people enjoy these.

Thanks for stopping by!  You can also visit my website for New Earth Designs and Lib Callaway patterns. . .there are over 500 to choose from!  For  over 50 years, I have been immersed in all facets of traditional rug hooking. . . ..from dyeing to teaching; designing patterns and colour planning them.  From my own  dye formulas, I dye yards over  neutrals, pastels, and textures. . .thus creating hundreds of variations.  Spot dyeing is another specialty, and I routinely keep 200 different ones on hand.  All hooked items are made by hand hooking  strips of  my hand dyed wool that I've chosen for the piece.  Once i choose a  Lib or  New Earth design,  I print it on to a backing, usually linen.  The older ones I've made are on burlap, as that was commonly used until the late 1980's.  The rugs are finished off with wool yarn whipped over cording, and binding tape applied to the back.I first learned to hook in 1971, became a certified teacher in 1979, and have been "on the road"  teaching since 1989.  Hope to meet you soon at a rug school!

Meet the Maker

I have always been attracted by colour and artistry, and enjoy working with fiber, paints, dyes and  wool.  I became a rug hooker in 1971, and for over 30 years it has been my occupation.  As a certified instructor, I travel several times a year to teach this art. . and for it I dye wools, design and print patterns and hook as often as I can!  Here will be finished items for sale, and eventually some dyed wools as well that are currently on Etsy.  And perhaps a few other items as well!
