About this Product

Distressed blue denim is repurposed into this one of a kind bucket hat.

Blue denim is accented with touches of black denim and red embroidery stitching.

Star embellishments from worn out jeans with embroidered patch of white stars on deep blue combine for a funky one of a kind street style you will love.

This is a ONE OF A KIND bucket hat made by me.  I am inspired by the things around me, and the night sky is large and lovely here in this part of the Blue Ridge Mountains that I live in.

Stand out as you stand up for slow fashion and show the world that repurposing can be impressive!

This hat holds it's shape well.

Denim is lined with a shabori indigo dyed fabric.  I used vintage linen on the hat brim, and cotton sheeting on the band and hat top.  The result looks like the summer sky.  Clear blue with puffy white clouds floating by.

Fiber content not known.

Fabrics are all pre loved, signs of wear are part of the charm.

We are recycling textiles into a new, usable form

Washable and reshape to dry. Iron the brim if desired.

This unique boonie hat is just what you are looking for! A great streetwear look that goes hiking, too!

Handmade and ready to ship!

Measurements are approximate:

Welcome! The important thing to know is that I use up cycled fabric exclusively. Denim remakes, fabrics repurposed, always giving textiles another…

What I do:

Textiles. Creating. Repurposing. The things that I am passionate about are here.  As a sewer, maker, and creator....I offer one of a kind creations using up-cycled textiles, imagination, and respect for materials.

Fabrics come from thrift shops, auctions, donations, etc. It is time intensive to find ,'harvest' and prepare fabrics for reuse.  Being aware of the textile waste in our world has prompted me to reuse all that I can (and soap box about fast fashion at every opportunity).  Google 'Fast Fashion'...you'll understand my passion.

No new fabrics are harmed in the making of any items in this shop!

Ridiculously fun to make, LOVEpiecefully Bucket Hats are a walking billboard for reducing textile waste while you look great!

Read on to find out how this all started:

Rewind to the beginning of the pandemic. In 2020 when no PPE was available for nurses and doctors. I thought I could help in some small way, so I dug out my sewing machine and started sewing. Soon, my husband and I were making and donating masks....lots and lots of masks. We worked at this full time 'job' for months and months. Working with the AUNTIE SEWING SQUAD on FB, he and I made and donated nearly 9,000 masks and sent them to people in need all over the country.  Un-homed, migrants, our indigenous population...the forgotten folks. We are all only as healthy as our most vulnerable neighbors.

The thing about making 9,000 masks is that you create a TON of fabric scraps.I knew that I could not just toss these pieces of fabric out.

So, I started making. Bucket Hats, probably because of the endless design possibilities became my thing.

Tremendous resources are used to create fabrics, we need to use them to their fullest before we are done with them. It's just the right thing to do.

So, wear a reclaimed fabric hat....no doubt friends will ask you where it came from. You can start a great ECO-centered conversation, and you will be an environmental hero!

How it’s Made

Making this hat was a fun adventure -- a sewing nerd has strange ideas about adventures and I'm a sewing nerd.

Digging through all of the pieces and snippets of the jeans I have 'harvested' and discovering how these pieces could be used as a sort of mosaic in building a look on a hat is the adventure.  For this hat, I had an idea that I just wanted to create a large star patch.  I wasn't sure how to start...but the beginning is always a good place.  The way I envisioned it looking is pretty much how it came out.  Then I decided it really the hat needed a bit more, one star is just not enough...so the patch was added.  I love that the stars are white on the dark blue background...the red just made it all pop.

Hats, for me, are blank canvasses. Embellishing them is my art.

I hope you like this one!! I'd love to hear what you think! Message me!
