About this Product

Are you looking for a unique and beautiful office gift for that special or someone or for yourself? Then this is the pen for you made of rare Irish Bog Oak that has been paired with bright chrome components with gold titanium accents. Irish Bog Oak or Morta is a rare wood found in Northern England that has been preserved for over 2000 years. It is preserved as it fell into a peat bog keeping it protected from the atmosphere. The wood is stained and is a dark brown to black in color. Bog oak is especially popular with tobacco pipe smokers. I am able to secure these and repurpose that wood into beautiful items like this Celticus style pen. The Celticus style pen boasts Celtic design and knots on the final cap, clip, and trim rings.

This is the smallest of my offerings, if you are looking for the same pen but in a larger size please follow this link

This custom and handmade pen, like all my other pens, was handcrafted by me in my woodshop. These are not mass produced pens and each one is handcrafted by myself so you are getting a craftsman's touch and love of their craft with each pen. First, I take the timber and cut it down into usable material and drilling it out to accept the pen tube hardware. Second, I take the blank and turn it down with my lathe to fit the Celtic Rollerball components. Finally, the pen is finished with a wax and oil finish so you can feel the ancient wood as you write with it. These pens have been produced by me ahead of time so you will not receive the pen pictured but it’ll be of the same great quality.

Meet the Maker

Hello, welcome to my shop. My name is Michael and I am from Lubbock, Texas. I am a father to 3 amazing boys and a husband to a beautiful wife. I am a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University and have deep roots in both Texas and New Mexico. There is no other place I would rather live than the Llano Estacado region of the United States.

In search of a hobby, I dabbled in woodworking in 2012 as an escape from my day to day full time job. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Now I just try and find time to do it between all the activities associated with family life. Woodworking gives me a creative outlet that allows me to focus on art and functional pieces.

I source materials from all over the world and use mediums such as wood, resins, and plastics. On occasion, I get to mix these mediums together in a piece.

I welcome special orders and I am always open to working with you in order to come up with that special "something."
