About this Product
Are you looking for a perfect gift for a modeler. artists, designers, seamstresses, soap makers, and other DIYer's,? Are you looking for a custom hobby knife/scalpel for yourself? Then this reclaimed honey locust wood hobby knife is just for you. It is perfect for using it daily in your hobby room or just showing off to your friends.
How it's made:
This custom handmade hobby knife, like all my other hobby knives, was personally handcrafted by me in my woodshop. These are not mass produced marking knives and each one is handcrafted by myself so you are getting a craftsman's touch and the love of their craft with each knife. Each hobby knife I craft has subtle differences making it a truly one of a kind. First, I select a piece of reclaimed honey locust wood, cut it down to size and drill it out in order to get it ready to turn on my wood lathe. Second, the newly formed honey locust blank is drilled out to fit the aluminum components and to prep it for turning. Third, it is meticulously turned down with my lathe to fit the hobby making knife components taking proper care that it transitions to the hardware perfectly. Finally, a walnut oil and wax finish is applied in multiple coats which allows you to feel the wood when you use the knife. The listed knife has already been created however due to differences in wood it may look a little different than the one pictured.

Matador Woodworking
Meet the Maker
Hello, welcome to my shop. My name is Michael and I am from Lubbock, Texas. I am a father to 3 amazing boys and a husband to a beautiful wife. I am a graduate of Eastern New Mexico University and have deep roots in both Texas and New Mexico. There is no other place I would rather live than the Llano Estacado region of the United States.
In search of a hobby, I dabbled in woodworking in 2012 as an escape from my day to day full time job. What started as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. Now I just try and find time to do it between all the activities associated with family life. Woodworking gives me a creative outlet that allows me to focus on art and functional pieces.
I source materials from all over the world and use mediums such as wood, resins, and plastics. On occasion, I get to mix these mediums together in a piece.
I welcome special orders and I am always open to working with you in order to come up with that special "something."
