The Black and White Stars artist book is a beautiful hand-bound artist book featuring seven hand drawn portraits of black and white movie stars, including Grace Kelly, Charlie Chaplin, Gregory Peck, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, and Kathryn Hepburn.
I used Faber Castell markers to draw the portraits, then created mixed-media collage on the rest of the page. Found and upcycled objects evocative of the life of each star were used to create seven miniature artistic memoirs. Included in each college are small torn biography pages, which I first typeset and then had printed on glossy paper to resemble magazine pages.
Because of the dimensional objects in the collage this book does not fully close. When closed it measures 5.75" x 5.75" x 2.5". When open for display it measures 5.75" high and 12" across.
This book won first place in the three-dimensional category of the 2013 Black, White & Grey show at the Keizer Art Association in Keizer, Oregon.
This is a piece of fine art and should be protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Some light handling is expected, but hands should be washed prior to handling to prevent discoloration from natural skin oils.

WARRANTY
LouJean Designs warrants that the work represented here is original and handmade. Each product or piece that comes from our studio is unique and we take great pride in knowing that each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. Certain characteristics or defects inherent to handmade products may be present. Handmade items that are not machine-made contain slight irregularities and variations. These traits are considered part of the character of the piece and should not be considered defects. We stand behind the integrity and quality of our handcrafted products.
All original designs and photos are copyrighted by the Artist.
RETURNS
As a rule, we do not take returns, however, if you find that there is a defect of some kind, please contact us immediately to discuss the situation.
All returns must be postmarked within seven (7) days of receipt. All returned items must be in new and unworn condition and must include the original packaging or gift box. All returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
RETURN PROCESS
To return an item, please email customer service at LouJean@Q.com to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization. We reserve the right to deny a refund to the sender without prior return approval. You are responsible for all return shipping charges. We strongly recommend that you use a trackable method to mail your return, and should consider shipping insurance for items valued over $50. We do not guarantee that we will receive your returned item.
REFUND PROCESS
Returned items must be in original condition, must be unworn, and must include the original packaging or gift box. Once your return is received and inspected, we will notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, we will process your refund. Please allow at least fourteen (14) days from our receipt of your item to process your refund. Refunds will be applied to your original method of payment.
EXCEPTIONS
Sale items are final and cannot be returned. There are no returns on custom-made products or art.

SHIPPING POLICY
We ship in-stock items by USPS Priority Mail within three (3) days of you placing an order. Shipping will include insurance and tracking. If for some unexpected reason we are unable to ship within that time frame we will contact you by email. Made-to-order items typically ship within 7 to 10 business days. Some custom work can take as long as 6 to 8 weeks to ship. Please see individual item descriptions for specific processing and shipping times.
Shipping within the United States is free. We also ship to Canada using calculated shipping. We currently do not ship internationally (with the exception of Canada) at this time. LouJean Designs is not responsible for any customs or import fees.
Please contact us if you would like to purchase upgraded or expedited shipping.
If you need your item by a specific date, please let us know. We will do our best to make sure your item reaches you in time for your special event, however, we can only guarantee that your order is shipped within a reasonable time frame, and we cannot guarantee a delivery time by any carrier.
It is your responsibility to ensure that there is a safe place for your mail to be delivered. We are not responsible for lost or stolen mail.
