Meet the Maker

Kathleen Fields loves the art of Crochet. Using this wonderful needlecraft for the past 30 years, she has designed many beautiful Blankets and House Decor items.

She has several Filet Crochet Pattern eBooks and Paperbacks published, and is looking forward to many more.

Some of her books are inspirational Christian-themed Crochet items using the beautiful Filet Crochet technique, including easy-to-follow Charts and Instructions.

She has many of her Patterns sold in popular online shops. She loves designing Overlay Mosaic Crochet Blankets.

All of her single Patterns are in digital PDF Pattern Form and can be easily downloaded and used on computers, tablets, etc.

Filet Crochet, Tunisian, and Overlay Mosaic Crochet are her specialties; yet dabbles in other works as well.

How it’s Made

I begin by sketching a rough design; in this instance, I envision a wide, long runner adorned with large snowflakes, featuring many curves and a lacy appearance.

Next, I transfer my sketch onto an Excel grid chart, adhering to the filet crochet guidelines, to create a design chart.

I then construct a chart using crochet stitch symbols for each row.

Following that, I write out the pattern.

Additionally, I prepare a digital PDF pattern, incorporating instructions, charts, border suggestions with straightforward diagrams, and guidance on blocking the finished piece if necessary.

I crocheted the design using the yarn I selected. The complexity of creating this beautiful runner was unexpected, but the result is incredibly rewarding.

I enlist individuals proficient in the Filet Crochet Technique to test my pattern, ensuring its accuracy. Subsequently, I publish my pattern here and elsewhere, and actively discuss it in social media groups.
