About this Product

Take a good look at these natural Keshi pearls! The size and luster is breathtaking. I totally love this fan shaped setting and it’s sterling set. You have earrings and a pendant.

Keshi pearls are free-form, non-nucleated pearls, often the by-product of pearl cultivation. As a result, they are solid nacre and can have incredible luster.

1. White South Sea - 1 1/2 x 7/8" Chain included

2. Black Tahitian with Tanzanite accents - 1 1/4 x 7/8" (2.5 mm 0.22 ct tanzanite) Chain included.

Shipping insurance is included according to the value of the item.

Pearls are one of the most beloved gems, used for millennia in jewelry and decoration, and are the only gems grown inside a living organism. The first recorded mention of pearls is 7,500 years old. They are one of a few organic gemstones, including ivory, amber, and coral.

South Sea pearls are currently the largest, most rare, and most valuable pearls produced today. They are produced by the silver or golden lipped oyster, known scientifically as the Pinctada maxima oyster, which are found on the shores of Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Tahitian pearls are the second most valuable commercially farmed pearls in the world, due to their naturally dark color and large size. The only larger and more valuable pearls are South Sea. Tahitian pearls are called black pearls, but the colors range from black, to dark or light gray, and nearly white, with iridescent peacock colors of dark or light green, pink, purples, blue and bronze-brown. They are produced by the Pinctada Margaritifera oyster, which is found exclusively in Tahiti and several other French Polynesian islands.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keshi_pearls Pearls are one of the birthstones of June, along with color-changing alexandrite, and moonstone. It is also the 3rd and 30th wedding anniversary gem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearl Tanzanite is an incredible blue/purple variety of zoisite discovered by accident in northern Tanzania in 1967, and is a single-source gemstone found only in the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is quite a unique stone and one of my favorites because of its strong and distinctive trichroism, meaning flashes of three colors (blue, purple, and red) are visible in the stone at different angles. As incredible as the color is, it actually starts out as a brownish crystal before being heated to its blue hues. It has been said to have been given to women following the birth of their first child as a symbol of new beginnings, and as a symbol of motherhood. Tanzanite is also a newly-minted birthstone of December, as of 2002, joining turquoise and zircon. It's the first stone to be added to the birthstone list since 1912. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanzanite

How it’s Made

I purchased the settings from a jewelry company. I also purchased the Keshi pearls from a pearl dealer.

I drilled the pearls and mounted them on these gorgeous fan shaped settings.
