Pearls are one of the most beloved gems, used for millennia in jewelry and decoration, and are the only gems grown inside a living organism. The first recorded mention of pearls is 7,500 years old. They are one of a few organic gemstones, including ivory, amber, and coral.

South Sea pearls are currently the largest, most rare, and most valuable pearls produced today. They are produced by the silver or golden lipped oyster, known scientifically as the Pinctada maxima oyster, which are found on the shores of Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Tahitian pearls are the second most valuable commercially farmed pearls in the world, due to their naturally dark color and large size. The only larger and more valuable pearls are South Sea. Tahitian pearls are called black pearls, but the colors range from black, to dark or light gray, and nearly white, with iridescent peacock colors of dark or light green, pink, purples, blue and bronze-brown. They are produced by the Pinctada Margaritifera oyster, which is found exclusively in Tahiti and several other French Polynesian islands.

Keshi pearls are free-form, non-nucleated pearls, often the by-product of pearl cultivation and, as a result, they are solid nacre and can have incredible luster.

Topaz is one of the most well-known gems due to it being used for decoration for thousands of years, as well as being mentioned in the Bible and Middle Age texts on gemstones. In ancient Egyptian times, it was believed that yellow topaz received its golden hue from the Sun God, Ra. It is found in a variety of colors all over the world, though most commonly known in gold or orange colors.

Topaz is the birthstone of November and associated with the zodiacal sign Sagittarius, and the gemstone for the 23rd wedding anniversary. Orange topaz is the state gemstone of Utah, and blue topaz is the state gemstone of Texas as well as being the 4th wedding anniversary gemstone.
