About this Product
You can crochet a colorful beanie masterpiece for women, men and teens with self-striping yarn and this easy pattern. You can also make a scrap-happy version with leftover yarn from other projects.
WHAT YOU GET:
--The 5-Square Beanie is a step-by-step crochet hat pattern for worsted-weight (#4 Medium) yarn. You make five squares and then you have a choice of two ways to put them together: with sleek single-crochet or bumpy bobble-stitch. This hat (approximately 20 in./51 cm to 21 in./53 cm around) will fit most teens and adults.
OTHER INFO:
The 6-page PDF pattern also includes a chart of the square motif, a tutorial on a special finishing technique and links to pages on my website -- www.hatsbyelvee.com -- for crocheters who want more information on the stitches used.

The Chunky Guy Beanie, pictured here, is my best-selling pattern, with hundreds sold to makers from around the world. The pattern exemplifies what I love most about crochet and knitting: An easy pattern can produce a classic look as well as an enjoyable crafting experience.
Almost all of my patterns use simple, basic stitches. I occasionally venture into intermediate territory -- but only if the end result is worth the extra effort.
One of my favorite activities is to round up a few balls of yarn and experiment with stitches and shapes and color combinations. It's an adventure to find out what kind of hat the yarn wants to be. A sassy, lacy Juliet cap for summer? A rugged, ribbed topper for frigid days? A snazzy fedora that evokes vintage glamour?
I really enjoy doing my small part in bringing warmth and beauty into the world, one hat at a time. My wish is that you enjoy making/wearing/gifting hats from my patterns as much as I enjoyed creating them!
Happy crocheting/knitting!
