About this Product
This listing is for an instant download PDF pattern to knit textured beanies and slouchy hats for men and women.
The Chunky Spiral beanie and slouchy use knit and purl stitches to create tons of texture. Worked up from the brim, this unisex hat finishes with an exuberant (and easy!) gathered crown of soft pleats.
The hat is knit in chunky (bulky) weight yarn. Chunky yarns vary widely in thickness and suggested gauges. For best results, use a yarn with a suggested gauge of 14 stitches = 4 in./10 cm.

OCTOBER SALE: Save 25 percent on stylish hat patterns through the end of October, and get a jump on your holiday gift making!
The Chunky Guy Beanie, pictured here, is my best-selling pattern, with hundreds sold to makers from around the world. The pattern exemplifies what I love most about crochet and knitting: An easy pattern can produce a classic look as well as an enjoyable crafting experience.
Almost all of my patterns use simple, basic stitches. I occasionally venture into intermediate territory -- but only if the end result is worth the extra effort.
One of my favorite activities is to round up a few balls of yarn and experiment with stitches and shapes and color combinations. It's an adventure to find out what kind of hat the yarn wants to be. A sassy, lacy Juliet cap for summer? A rugged, ribbed topper for frigid days? A snazzy fedora that evokes vintage glamour?
I really enjoy doing my small part in bringing warmth and beauty into the world, one hat at a time. My wish is that you enjoy making/wearing/gifting hats from my patterns as much as I enjoyed creating them!
Happy crocheting/knitting!
