UnMinted Cowboy Hat Doming Pucks are designed to work with the UnMinted Center Washers & Ball Bearings that are included with the UnMinted Cowboy Hat Puck and Pusher Sets (available in US Penny, US Nickel, US Dime, US Quarter and US Half Dollar versions), and UnMinted Slouch Hat Puck and Pusher Sets (available in Australian / British Pre-Decimal Sixpence, Half Penny and One Penny versions).
The UnMinted Cowboy Hat & Slouch Hat Puck and Pusher Sets work with your steel dapping block for doming the center of your coins (part of the coin hat making process) - these new UnMinted Doming Pucks remove that dependency (NO STEEL DAPPING BLOCK REQUIRED).
Steel inserts in the Doming Pucks give your domes a nice, clean edge, and combined with the matching Center Washer / Ball Bearing that come with the UnMinted Cowboy Hat & Slouch Hat Puck and Pusher Sets, makes it easy to get your domes centered, accurate, and with no loss of detail (aside from the stretching of the coin itself).

How to make coin cowboy hats using the new UnMinted Doming Pucks along with the UnMinted Cowboy Hat & Slouch Hat Puck & Pusher Sets:
- Anneal your coin, and polish it to your liking.
- Place the coin in the appropriate Center Washer with the side to be domed facing out.
- Place the Center Washer into the Doming Puck (making sure it sits flush around the coin).
- Place the Ball Bearing into the Center Washer.
- Using your hydraulic press (recommended, but arbor press can work), press the Ball Bearing down into the coin until the press foot just touches the top of the Center Washer.
- Gently flatten the brim of the coin after doming using the Delrin® Mini Pucks (or similar) on your press, then fold the brim using the UnMinted Cowboy Hat or Slouch Hat Puck & Pusher Set.
- Optionally, add a nice crease using the UnMinted Crown Creaser.

Meet the Maker
Handcrafted coin rings & pendants began as a hobby and quickly became an obsession. From the punches and dies, to annealing and forging, to polishing and antiquing – the process drew me in.
There were a lot of things I like making that custom tools and jigs could help with, so I started designing and making jigs, and then decided to make them available to other makers.
Coins inherently have their own story – their own history. For generations, they’ve been carried, collected, passed down, exchanged and traveled.
Turning coins into jewelry allows us to become part of that story – they travel with us. Whether keepsakes, anniversaries, birthdays, or surprises, the story continues.
Early forms of currency were bits and shapes of silver, they were “UnMinted“ coins. Over the years, they became individualized to people and groups who developed and standardized them.
I like to think that, in a way, we’re going back to the roots.

How it’s Made
I designed these in Blender, and 3d print the bases on my Bambu Lab A1 Mini 3d printers. I have the steel inserts laser cut, and mount them together before sending them out.
