About this Product
The Slouch Hat Puck & Pusher Set is an UnMinted Coin Co. custom designed tool set, used for making coin slouch hats from Australian / British Pre-Decimal One Pennies.
The sets are designed to PROTECT YOUR COIN'S DETAILS, which is essential for making great looking slouch hats – for a maker, this set makes it easy to get a nice, sharp dome, and evenly folded brim.
Start by annealing your Pre-Decimal Australian / British One Penny (this makes it workable), then clean and polish it to your liking.
Use the center washer and steel ball bearing on the 16mm hole of your steel dapping block for a perfect center dome.
Give the One Penny a gentle press between the Delrin® Mini-Pucks (or similar) to flatten the brim, then use the slouch hat puck and pusher on your press to fold the brim evenly and consistently.
Optionally add a crease in the top of your hat using the cowboy hat crown creaser.

- This product assumes you have a torch for annealing, a steel dapping block with a 16mm opening for doming, and a 1T arbor press (or greater).

** Flattening the brim after doming is an important step - you'll get the best results, and helps prevent damage to the puck.

Meet the Maker
Handcrafted coin rings & pendants began as a hobby and quickly became an obsession. From the punches and dies, to annealing and forging, to polishing and antiquing – the process drew me in.
There were a lot of things I like making that custom tools and jigs could help with, so I started designing and making jigs, and then decided to make them available to other makers.
Coins inherently have their own story – their own history. For generations, they’ve been carried, collected, passed down, exchanged and traveled.
Turning coins into jewelry allows us to become part of that story – they travel with us. Whether keepsakes, anniversaries, birthdays, or surprises, the story continues.
Early forms of currency were bits and shapes of silver, they were “UnMinted“ coins. Over the years, they became individualized to people and groups who developed and standardized them.
I like to think that, in a way, we’re going back to the roots.

How it’s Made
I designed these in Blender, and then 3d print them on my Bambu Lab A1 Mini 3d printers. I cut the Delrin® inserts from Delrin® rod stock before mounting them in the folding pucks.
