This stained glass honeycomb sun catcher features a hexagonal design, mimicking the structure of a honeycomb. Each hexagon is made of colorful stained glass pieces, or textured clears in the pattern of a real beehive.
The glass pieces allow light to come through and create beautiful patterns and colors when hung in a sunny window or in your garden.
This sun catcher also has two small bees made of gold tone metal, and an amber glass "honey drop" adding a fun touch to the design.

I am married with two grown children and four wonderful grandchildren. My husband and myself live in Delaware, surrounded by chicken and vegetable farms. It’s a quiet, laid back lifestyle which fits our golden years nicely.
Stained glass is a hobby I had gotten into about 30 years ago. Now that I’m retired, children are on their own, and husband is busy with his own hobbies, I can devote more of my time to it.
Looking at sheets of glass and imagining what it can be turned into, then making it happen, is what gives me the most joy. Over the years I have designed and installed many windows for family and friends. Now most of my glasswork is sun catchers and small panels, though I enjoy making the occasional custom stained glass window.

How it’s Made
Your sun catcher is handmade entirely by me.
I first decide on a design, then choose the glass I think would look best. Next I hand cut the glass, and the edges get smoothed with a grinding wheel. The individual pieces are then foiled around the edges so the solder has something to adhere to. After soldering, the piece is washed, and a patina applied. Then it is waxed and buffed so it has a nice sheen. Adornments such as the bee and "honey drops" are added, the new solder gets a patina and a little wax, finally a golden chain is attached so it's ready to hang in one of your windows or out in your garden.
The solder does contain some lead, please keep out of reach of children and pets.
When your piece eventually needs to be cleaned, a swish through warm soapy water and a quick polish and buff with furniture polish will bring back the shine.
Do NOT use any window cleaner with ammonia, as it will tarnish the patina and strip the wax.

Please note that I believe strongly in recycling packaging when at all possible. Your item may arrive in new, or clean and reused bubble wrap and/or boxes.
The item you purchased will be packaged with care to avoid any breakage. However, things happen. Sometimes the carriers are not as careful as we'd like them to be. In the event your item arrives damaged, please contact me immediately. I will want to see a photo of the damaged item, and I will refund, or ask you to return it depending on what we determine/discuss.
