About this Product

The stoneware bowl is a 9 1/2inch open faced serving bowl. It is a reaction to the Bauhaus idea, championed by Kandinsky, that a distillation can illustrate a broad concept. In this instance, line and color can serve as representative of the intricacies of the universe.

It is a hump molded serving bowl. It is glazed with non-toxic food safe glazes. The designs are original and hand painted.

The bowl is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. Stoneware is subject to thermal shock, so take care moving from cold to hot or visa-versa too quickly.

Small imperfections are implicit in the handmade process and do not interfere with function.

I am a third generation artist--my grandfather, mother, aunts, brother and my daughter are all artists. I taught art for several years. Now I am a full-time maker. I earned an MFA degree with a major in ceramics. I also have a mother/daughter shop (the original RetroRamics) on Etsy.

How it’s Made

This is a hump molded bowl. The clay is stoneware. It is bisque fired and glaze fired.
