These earrings are made of gem-quality rhodonite cabochons hanging below candy jade, rhodochrosite, and rose quartz beads. They are put together with sterling wire. The lever back ear wires are stainless steel.
1. Rhodonite: 6 x 4 mm, 1.35 ct, rhodochrosite and candy jade, 1 7/8" in length
2. Rhodonite: 9.5 x 5 mm, 2.4 ct, candy jade and rose quartz, 2 1/8" in length

Rhodonite is a typically opaque gemstone commonly made into beads and cabochons. It is a rosy pink color with black banding, and clear gem-quality pieces are extremely rare. It was an important stone for carvings in aristocratic Russia, where ornamentation like tiles, bowls, pillars, and sculptures were popular. Sources are Russia, Australia, Japan, Madagascar, Sweden, Brazil, and Peru. Rhodonite also comes from the U.S. in New Jersey and Massachusetts. It is a fairly soft gemstone, so please take extra care to protect the stone from damage.
