About this Product
Crabs is one of a series of functional salt and pepper shakers that are meant to explore complex relationships. They serve as working art objects, in this case, dinner table condiment dispensers, designed to be placed on a table and used during a meal, but also to inspire conversation.
This is a set of two shakers. Each has a hollow body with a cork plugged opening and perforations to dispense the spice it contains. The containers hold approximately two tablespoons of salt or pepper (or any fine grained spice).
No two sets are identical to one another.
The pieces are constructed of a combination of slip cast and hand built parts. Every unit is unique. The clay is earthenware. The glazes are non-toxic.
The shakers are functional art works. They are fragile. Please hand wash.

Meet the Maker
I am a third generation artist--my grandfather, mother, aunts, brother and my daughter are all artists. I taught art for several years. Now I am a full-time maker. I earned an MFA degree with a major in ceramics. I also have a mother/daughter shop (the original RetroRamics) on Etsy.
How it’s Made
The salt and pepper sets are hand built from sculpted and slip cast forms. They are bisque and glaze fired.
