About this Product

These cups are made in reference to traditional drinking cups for whiskey or sake. They are comfortable to hold and to drink from. Each shape is notable for its association with ideas of openness, celebration, conversation and contemplation. The forms are adaptations of traditional Japanese Tea Bowl profiles.

The cups are thrown stoneware glazed with non-toxic glazes. They are a complimentary set of two. Each cup holds 4 oz. of liquid or approximately 1/4 cup. The taller cup is 2-inches in height and 1 3/4-inches wide, its partner is 1 3/4-inches tall and 3-inches wide.

They are a pleasure to use and pleasing to look at.

Meet the Maker

I am a third generation artist--my grandfather, mother, aunts, brother and my daughter are all artists. I taught art for several years. Now I am a full-time maker. I earned an MFA degree with a major in ceramics. I also have a mother/daughter shop (the original RetroRamics) on Etsy.

How it’s Made

The cups are thrown on a potters wheel, bisque and glaze fired.
